I know, Tailer is spelt pretty weird! Tails, Spin, Spinney and many many more are the names I have been called throughout my life. I am 31 years old, living in Truckee, California. My life started in California, but being apart of a Navy family, I have lived in many places. Although raised oceanside, I landed in the mountains about 11 years ago. I dive deep into whatever my surrounding environment has to offer, creating my passion of venturing through the mountains finding the best snow.

I’ve been on a board of sorts since I can remember. My dad made me my first skateboard when I was 6, then not too long after that I started surfing. Sliding sideways lit a fire in my soul. It has shaped who I am, my mindset in search of flow and happiness. It was a no brainer when my best friend’s dad, at age 15, offered to take us to learn how to snowboard. From skating and surfing it translated easily and I immediately fell in love. But I lived by the ocean… I, as many, came from a lower income family, making it nearly impossible to obtain all the gear. I worked for a surf shop (Wave Riding Vehicles) for many years and luckily was able to get a discount on my first setup that I begged my mom to help me get! The shop gave us unlimited day passes to the closest resort, which was about 3.5 hrs northwest. But it wasn’t until living in Tahoe at age 21, that I really started snowboarding.

Fast forward to 2016. At this point I’ve been in Tahoe a couple years, I’ve been teaching snowboarding to get my passes to a few different resorts and waiting tables to make ends meet. I met the right people shortly after moving here who introduced me to splitboarding, who pushed my limits, and saw potential in me. In 2016 I was introduced to Shasta Mountain Guides, they opened the door for me to the world of Mountain Guiding. The winter of 2017-18, I started to tail ski guide for Alpenglow Expeditions here locally. I am currently still working for these two outfits, spending most of my summer in Shasta, and my winters in North Lake Tahoe. I am the first and only female splitboard guide for these two companies. I am on track with the American Mountain Guide Association, going through the motions of becoming a Nationally Certified Splitboard Guide. With all of this comes a responsibility for educating myself on avalanche awareness which then guided me to becoming certified to teach Avalanche Education.

I snowboard because I absolutely love the joy it brings to my life, and I share it with others in hope they gain that same feeling and it carries on in their lives. It has made me a better person, more environmentally conscious, more humble because the mountains are much more powerful than I, more motivated, focused on future goals, and simply happier.
